Rural Development Assistance Team
Wallowa County was selected as the one community in the United States to
receive a free visit from a Rural Development Assistance Team (RDAT) from
North Carolina State University. A group of County leaders, stakeholders
and interested parties formed the Economic Action Team in the early summer
of 2005 with the mission of enhancing the economic environment and vitality
of Wallowa County while maintaining the County's quality of life, aesthetic beauty, and environmental attributes. This
group recruited and facilitated the RDAT visit of ten professionals from
across the nation in October of 2006 culminating in an in-depth study of
Wallowa County and the following Team Report.
The Economic Action Team and its various subcommittees are now planning
implementation activities derived from recommendations put forth in the
following Team Report. Although all the recommendations made by the RDAT
may not be implemented, all are based on input received from County
constituents by a variety of means.
